Increased levels of relaxation can be achieved with meditation, this can contribute towards reducing muscular tension and the corresponding associated symptoms that result: headaches, muscular aches and pains. A greater sense of wellbeing is often experienced. Numerous studies have demonstrated physiological benefits recorded at the time of meditation: a reduction in blood pressure, pulse rate and basal metabolic rate (BSR).   Researchers developing biofeedback techniques in a well known US study from the 1960's found that yoga meditation clearly affects the heart cirulation.
